America is getting older. As the care of our older population improves with better medication and improved technology, the number of individuals who live longer is a blessing. However, many of those in their golden years require additional support from professionals. Thus, the number of facilities to care for them has increased in the greater Grand Rapids area. Divided into independent living, assisted living, and continual and memory care facilities, these “retirement homes” vary from adequate housing to cruise ship style living.
Residents of these facilities take advantage of the community relationships, personal growth, freedom from home maintenance, peace of mind for the future, as well as resort-style amenities.
On 25 March, hear the Director of the Beacon Hill Foundation, Jessica Payne, describe the life choices available at one of Grand Rapids’ retirement facilities, but understand that there are many facilities in the greater Grand Rapids area that offer a variety of choices.
Remember: it is never too early to put yourself on the wait list of a retirement facility.
