What is the mission of GRCC? How will the relatively new practice of being an open access college prepare individuals to attain their goals and contribute to the community?
GRCC, as the second oldest Junior/Community College in the nation and the oldest in Michigan has always included the words “Excellence” and “Tradition” in its mantra. Does the practice of open access alter that?
The themes to be explored:
What does our student body look like, coming from the community? How does the College support its students towards success in forming community? How does the College support the community through educational and workforce partnerships? What support does the College get from the community through local and state investments as well as general higher education grants?
It has been a tradition for Breakfast Club to invite the current president of GRCC to present an update on where the College is headed. Dr. Steven Triezenberg, although the interim president since May 2025, is committed to continuing the rich tradition of the College.
Invocation: Eric Nelson Introduction: Paul Chardoul
