In our last presentation, we learned of some of the crises in climate change that are staring us in the face. For the upcoming presentation on 27 August, Nate Henschel, Community Affairs Manager for Consumers Energy in Kent and Montcalm counties, will show us what that energy company is doing to allay these crises in western Michigan.

Seeking a reliable and safe energy source, Consumers is providing the most affordable fuel (natural gas) by pumping bulk gas at the best possible price into the ground (Michigan’s geologic rock structure is very porous and the nooks and crannies – like English muffins – allows Consumers to use this rocky sponge as a storage source).

Consumers is committed to protecting the environment and Nate will describe the company’s local impact, other reliability investments and the future of the energy landscape in Michigan.

Invocation: Eric Nelson
Introduction: Paul Chardoul

Energy Consumption

  1. The less you burn, the more you save. Fuel once burnt, never returns. Secure your future, save fuel today. Burn calories, not fossil fuels. ~ Anonymous
  2. “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
  3. “Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.” ~ Albert Einstein (this is a concise way of stating the Law of Conservation of Energy)
  4. “I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don’t have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that. I wish I had more years left.” ~ Thomas A Edison
