“I just got call from the IRS saying that we owe them money. Should I call them back?”
“I received an email informing me that I won $1000. All I need to do is click a link and answer a few questions about where I want the money deposited. Should I click this link?”
“I received a text from the FBI. It has a link to a home protection survey designed to keep my family and me safe. Should I click the link and fill it out?”
We live in a time where virtual thievery is rampant and our own ignorance and gullibility are two of their greatest weapons. The United States is showered every moment of the day with disinformation from our enemies. Along with that are highly personalized calls, emails, and texts designed to separate us from our identities, money, property, and even our safety. Although many digital threats can be thwarted with sophisticated IT systems, they cannot protect us from everything. There is a gap in all digital security plans that only we as users of technology can fill with knowledge, awareness, and decisive action. Fortunately, we have a presentation to help you start to close that digital security gap.
Our speaker, Lilia Herdegen, is a Lead Cybersecurity Analyst at Grand Rapids Community College. She will present on Staying Secure in the Digital Age – a program you or a guest will not want to miss.
