"Fix the damn roads!" We heard this repeatedly in 2018. To get a feeling of what has been done recently, in 2023 MDOT spent $2 billion (!) on roads, improving and maintaining them. 1187 lane miles redone as well as 96 bridges, maintenance and rehab of 914 lane miles and 131 bridges.
As MDOT is responsible for 9700 out of 120,000 route miles, this is a considerable effort. Roads with M, I or US designator come under the authority of MDOT.
There is a rumor that there will be a total rebuild of US-131 from 28th Street to Wealthy. Our speaker on 3 January 2024 (there, I wrote the correct year first time!) is John Richard, Michigan Department of Transportation Communication Representative. He will talk about budget issues and construction problems on the state’s highways. Keep in mind that budget = priorities.
Invocation: Eric Nelson Introduction: Paul Chardoul
On January 17, 2024, our speaker will be Grand Rapids Police Chief, Eric Winstrom.
