On  March 3, 1865, President Lincoln signed legislation that established a network of National facilities to care for wounded Civil War soldiers. Michigan Veteran Homes (MVH) has been serving veterans continuously on the same campus in the City of Grand Rapids since the 1880s. A lot has changed in healthcare through those 135+ years, as well as in just the last few years.

Michigan Veterans Homes provide skilled nursing care and exceptional quality of life to veterans and their loved ones needing nursing home care. As one of more than 160 State Veteran Homes throughout the country, and one of three in Michigan, MVH in Grand Rapids serves an important purpose in providing late-in-life and end-of-life care to the men and women who’ve nobly served our nation. 

Ryan Engle, Director of Development & Strategic Engagement for MVH, will tell us about the past, present, and future of the Michigan Veterans Homes and how they will continue to provide care for our veterans, their families, and their caregivers.
