How do we know what people are thinking about a given topic?

A poll states that 60% of those surveyed believe that automobiles should be removed from the highways. Your first thought should be to wonder what the “universe” was that created that poll. You find out that the universe was train conductors.

There is a great deal of difference between a “straw poll” and a “scientific poll.” The Survey Research Center at the University of Michigan is world-recognized as amazingly accurate for a variety of reasons.

Our presenter is Stephanie Chardoul, Director of Operations at SRC, who will share some of the methodology that the Center uses in determining public opinion.

Invocation: Eric Nelson
Introduction: Paul Chardoul
