Grand Rapids Community College, formerly Grand Rapids Junior College, was established in 1914. It is the oldest community college in Michigan and possibly the second oldest community college in the nation. It was housed for many years in a single building -- simply called the "Main Building," which is now Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall. Many other buildings have been added over the past 109 years such as “Peter & Pat Cook Academic Center” (formerly the "North Building") The Music Building is now Albert P. Smith Music Center, and the Applied Technology Center is Wisner-Bottnall Applied Technology Center. Just east of the main campus is the DeVos Campus, the former home of Davenport College. In Holland is the Lakeshore Campus. The Leslie E. Tassell Technical Education Center (M-TEC) is in southwest Grand Rapids.

Our speaker, Dr. Charles Lepper, is the 11th president of Grand Rapids Community College. He will share with us GRCC's Strategic Plan.

Invocator: Eric Nelson

College

1. How do you that you have been in college too long?
Your parents are running out of money.

2. College...where students go to the fountain of knowledge to drink.

3. The dean of a college told the auditorium, “The female dormitory will be out-of-bounds for all male students, so too the male dormitory to female students. Anybody caught breaking this rule will be fined $20 the first time. Anybody caught breaking this rule the second time will be fined $60. Being caught a third time will incur a hefty fine of $180. Are there any questions?” At this, a student in the crowd raised their hand and asked, “Er… how much for a season pass?”
