WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2023 – 7:15 a.m.
What’s it like to ride a two-wheeler from the 5th Third Bank Building all the way to Alaska, assuming you wanted to visit our 49th State? It's much easier taking a motor home. We have invited BC member Richard (Dick) McGarrity to tell us about his recent sojourn to our largest State. Where is that again? Alaska is on the northwest extremity of North America. A semi-enclave of the U.S., it borders British Columbia and the Yukon in Canada to the east, and shares a western maritime border in the Bering Strait with the Russian Federation’s Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. To the north are the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas of the Artic Ocean, and the Pacific Ocean lies to the south and southwest. Size-wise, Alaska is LARGER than the next three largest states of Texas, California, and Montana combined. The former capital Sitka, is the largest U.S. city by area.
Dick will present photos and stories from his 55-day, 5,000-mile RV tour of British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska last summer. He and his wife, Noel, traveled with 16 other RVs and we will see the beautiful views of the mountains, glaciers, fjords, villages and wildlife they saw during this once-in-a-lifetime trip.
