Canadian World-Class Theatre Fall, 2022. Bored with things to do now that COVID is nearly gone? Looking for some exciting theatre, music, and drama? Want to experience a great getaway to visit our neighbors due North? You may wish to consider a late summer-early fall trip to Canada. There are two theatrical sites – each having about four venues. The first one is The Shaw Festival at Niagara on the Lake (NOTL), and it is easy to find. Just locate Niagara Falls and go North about 12 miles where Lake Ontario and the Niagara River intersect. Your distance through Port Huron is about 370 miles from Grand Rapids. Stratford is closer at about 233 miles. Likewise, this quaint town has four venues. Stratford, but especially NOTL, has excellent grapes that the Canadians have turned into a mostly yellow, bubbly substance they sometimes call “bubbly.” You will be afforded a list of the plays for each venue; some hints to have a great adventure; and some miscellany that you may shrug at, and then ignore. Example: the Canadians have eliminated the Canadian penny.

The moral of the story (1) – A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan, 3. The boys began to argue who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. “If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, ‘Let my brother have the first pancake. I can wait.’” Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, “Ryan, you be Jesus!”
The moral of the story (2) – Two bishops were discussing the decline in morals in the modern world. “I didn’t sleep with my wife before I was married,” said one clergyman self-righteously, Did you?” “I don’t know,” said the other. “What was her maiden name?”
The moral of the story (3) – When the economy is good, people drink. When the economy is bad, people drink. Moral: invest in alcohol.
