It is now confirmed by our friendly friends at Beaumont Health and Spectrum Health that they have merged into a new healthcare system that will temporarily be called BHSH System (BS for short?) as of February 1. It is the biggest healthcare system in Michigan, reported the Detroit Free Press. The new system is based in Grand Rapids and Southfield and operates 22 hospitals and 305 outpatient locations. We have sent our special reporters Uncle Sherman and Auntie Trust to cover the real story. But, who better to give us the scoop without all that medical jargon, in alphabetical order, would be our genial gastroenterologist, Paul Farr, MD, and retired CEO of Alliance for Health, ever-smiling, Lody Zwarensteyn.
Paul has an undergrad degree from Harvard, his medical degree from the U of Kansas, and residency from the U of Iowa. He operates out of St. Mary’s, and his firm is Grand River Gastroenterology. Lody shines both Green and White with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from State in geography. Besides laboring at Alliance for 42 years, he has been most active in Rotary (with Paul) serving as a district governor. Finally, Lody is a former MSU Club president. Though this is a medical program, we will not be giving away free “Ah-sticks.”
This is the program to bring that special friend or relative to learn what we might expect on the medical horizon. (A Meijer’s gift certificate is always appreciated- but you need to bring a guest for eligibility!)
