BREAKFAST CLUB OF GRAND RAPIDS
Established 1936 – John A. Collins, President
UNIVERSITY CLUB
10th Floor of the Fifth/Third Bank Building
111 Lyon St. N.W. #1025, Grand Rapids
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19, 2022 – 7:15 a.m.
Our Breakfast Club, in its 86 years of existence, has had interesting leaders and motivators. President John Collins, our founder, was at one time mayor of East Grand Rapids and became skipper of the Breakfast Club. Judge Stuart Hoffius succeeded President Collins, holding the sacred post of Vice-President. Both offices are still staffed and maintained by Mr. Collins and Judge Hoffius. Walter McVeigh assumed the role of “Leader,” to be humbly followed by Paul Chardoul, “Leader Two.” We have invited Leader Two to address the Club with a commentary on the Chinese war/economic situation and how it might affect us in your lifetime. (I admit for some of us that’s not saying a long time.) Paul’s naval experience, especially teaching at the Naval War College, should give us all a different perspective of the anticipated Chinese policy. What better way to learn from the program than by inviting that neighbor that “certainly knows his fertilizer.”
