Señor Neighbors, a Mexican Diplomat? No, it’s Senior Neighbors, a place for, well, elderly folk that still enjoy helping our Neighbors, being of assistance to our County and its many excellent Cities. President Robert Barnes heads up volunteers who pride themselves on activities that encourage friendship. These include lectures, workshops, an outdoor group, and men and women groups that specialize in staying social. They celebrate friendships with day trips, talent shows and book club discussions. Yes, they even have a pool table and various exercise classes. One of their great achievements is to recognize 16 “Seniors” for their individual accomplishments to better us all. Last year BCer Carl Verbeek, Esq. was recognized; this year another BC member has been selected, although it is a secret. Hint: A four-letter word for an important part of a sail boat.
Invocator: Carl E. Ver Beek, Esq.
Introducer: James Booth Burr, Jr., Esq.
Secret: “Stood for his country’s glory fast,
And nail’d her colors to the mast.” Sir Walter Scott
Misc. “When you do squats, are your knees supposed to sound like
A goat on an aluminum can stuffed with celery?”
“My luck is like a bald guy who just won a comb.”
