Pandemic. It affects most of us in different ways. We have been deprived, at least on a temporary basis, from work, school, gathering with friends, and yes, our favorite “watering hole.” Some of us favor the arts and live performances: our fabulous symphony; the only professional ballet company in Michigan; the opera, both homegrown and MET performances; and drama at the Civic and Circle. What is happening to the art scene? We have invited Prof. (ret.) Roger Ellis to enlighten the BC about the arts scene and where we are headed. Some are weary of the ZOOM system of communication and would much rather be there in person, Dr. Ellis has recently retired from the GVSU theater department and been quite active in the local and national arts scene. Don’t forget your guest at the breakfast which could earn you a nice $10 gift certificate!
Invocator: Mr. Eric Nelson Introducer: James Booth Burr, Jr., Esq.
Art: “Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable.” George Bernard Shaw
Art(2): “If more than ten percent of the population likes an act of art, it should be forbidden, for it must be bad.” George Bernard Shaw
COVID (less): Life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight, you’re drunk.
