Citizens of Michigan amended their Constitution to establish a Redistricting Commission that will affect the 2022 elections. Why did we need the Commission? Simple. People are born, people die, and people move. Under our Constitution, districts for the various state and federal offices are supposed to be equal. Ah, there’s the rub. “Equal” also means that you cannot redistrict or discriminate based upon race, etc. That’s where the lawyers get big time pay. Vince Schumacher worked with our guest speakers: Rita Turner-Sheerin (a psychologist) and Lisa Jevens (a retired journalist) in seeking to have the Amendment approved. Vince will guide the speakers and help with questions.
Invocator: Mr. Eric Nelson
Introducer: Vince Schumacher, Esq.
Vote: “I never vote for anyone. I always vote against.” W C Fields
Vote (2): “Elections are won by men and women chiefly because most people vote against somebody rather than for somebody.” Franklin P. Adams
Vote (3): “When the political columnists say ‘Every thinking man,’ they mean themselves, and when candidates appeal to ‘every intelligent voter,’ they mean everybody who is going to vote for them.” Franklin P. Adams
COVID (less): Life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight, you’re drunk.
