We as a nation are exposed to crime and criminals.  There is a possible demand for more jails, more prisons, more punishments.  Little do we hear about restoration or rehabilitation of the miscreants and malefactors.  The average cost to feed, clothe, medicate and house an individual is more than $30,000 per year.  Is anything major being done to turn the criminals into productive, employed taxpayers?  Not much.  There are creative types that have taken steps to stop criminals, especially repeaters.

One is Anthony Torres.  He heads up the Kent County Veterans Treatment Court.  Yes, veterans sometimes find ways to end up in court, many because of alcohol or drugs, or sometimes trauma.  We will hear of great coordination between federal, state and local complex support for our vets and how this is working out.  Have a vet who might be interested?  Put them on the ZOOM with you.

Invocator:   Mr. Eric Nelson

Introducer:   James Booth Burr, Jr., Esq.

War (1):  “War is, at first, the hope that one will be better off; next, the expectation that the other fellow will be worse off; then, the satisfaction that he isn’t any better off; and, finally, the surprise at everyone’s being worse off.”  Karl Kraus

War (2): “As long as war is looked upon as wicked, it will always have its fascination.  When it is looked upon as vulgar, it will cease to be popular.”  Oscar Wilde

COVID (less)    Life is not a fairy tale.  If you lose your shoe at midnight, you’re drunk.
