Noted British Labour Party politician Jeremy Corbyn remarked that “Legal Aid is fundamental to giving everyone in the country access to justice.” Our guest this week is Pamela Hoekwater, Esq., executive director of Legal Aid for Western Michigan. Legal aid is big business, especially for families stretched on a budget that does not have even a buck or two to pay a lawyer. We will learn that Legal Aid has a large caseload, branch offices, and the ability to deliver for the average Joe or Jane that has a legal problem or more often a mess. Yes, you may invite that neighbor you share a driveway with but can’t agree on upkeep, or the one who has a chestnut tree that is inundating your front lawn.
