WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28, 2019 – 7:15 a.m.
We have invited Sara Lowe, the Executive Director of Emmanuel Hospice, a faith based non-profit program, to tell us about their mission and recent move. Emmanuel is an interfaith collaboration created by St. Ann’s Home, Clark Retirement Community, Porter Hills and Sunset Retirement Communities. We will hear about Emmanuel’s move to new quarters on Hall SW to accommodate more than 100 families daily here and portions of six surrounding counties. We all have some idea of what Hospice is, but it may be relevant to know what it tries to be for you and your family. Director Lowe will let us know how their doctors, nurses, social workers, hospice aides, spiritual caregivers, dietitians, pharmacists, grief support specialists and volunteers work as a team, rallying around individual needs to care for the mind, body and spirit.
Invocator: Mr. Keith D. Vandercook.
Introducer: James Booth Burr, Jr., Esq.
Hospice: In many dictionaries, a word that comes between Hope and Hospital.
Paraprosdokian: There’s a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can’t get away.
Kudo’s to Carl: Don’t be bashful about patting Carl Ver Beek, Esq. on the back: He was chosen one of the Senior Neighbors’ inductees into “16 Over 60” Award for presentation this fall. Who would have ever thought Carl was that old?
