It seems like the whole world is wanting to come to the United States to join us as fellow citizens.  Why?  Not necessarily our Amway products, our cheap gas, regularly delivered mail, reasonably priced vegetables and fruit, medical care and police protection.  We suggest that it is the freedom they seek: freedom to tell a politician to go to hell; to print materials that are offensive to others; to be tried by a jury of one's peers; to be free from unreasonable search and seizure; and yes, freedom to patent or copyright disgusting, salacious names as the Supreme Court has just now ruled.  We have picked July 4th to celebrate our Independence with the knowledge that many of our black neighbors were not free; our ladies were not able to vote.  Well, you have to start somewhere.  And start Gen. Washington and his lads did.  What better way to celebrate the 4th of July than to hear remarks from one of our veterans, Lt. Col. Denny Gillem, U.S. Army (ret.), popular voice of vets and heard on WOOD radio.  Why not invite your neighbor who gave service to our Country for an early July 4th celebration!

      Invocator:  Mr. Keith D. Vandercook

Introducers:   CDR US Navy (ret.) Paul Chardoul and James Booth Burr, Jr., Esq.

Independence Day: "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy, A Yankee Doodle, do or die;  A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam's, Born of the 4th of July …….."  George M. Cohan

From the Head Table: Great Truths that little children have learned:

    • No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats

Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.

You can't trust dogs to watch your food.

Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.

Paraprosdokian:   You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
