Let's think back 50 years – easy for those folks at the Senior Table.  What happened with food booths, dancing, food booths, art, food booths, singing and music?  There was a strange looking dude (maybe a Frenchman?) who acquired some left over scrap, found some interesting orange paint, and erected in our downtown a massive structure that resembled one of the points of study at the old Ferguson, Droste Ferguson Hospital.  Yes, Alexander's Calder's mystery piece created a stir, especially when the City tried to remove it to benefit a neighborhood junque (French for work of art) sale.  Anyhow. if you have a  massive edifice, you also need a Festival to, well, celebrate.  And Alexander sure did celebrate, especially the $180 grand he pocketed and quickly left town.  The Festival is 50 years old, and we have invited the first paid executive director David Abbott to tell us about the celebration June 7-9.  Those wanting to set up their own food booth at the BC meeting should clear that with Paul.

Invocator:    Mr. Keith D. Vandercook

Introducer:    Mr. Baird Hawkins (Baird is a former Festival co-chair

and spoke to the BC about historic preservation.  We're trying to have him

join, so be nice to him)

Art:  "If more than ten percent of the population likes a painting, it should be burned, for it must be bad."   George Bernard Shaw

Paraprosdokian. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
